It all begins on the studio floor.
Before becoming clothing, every Abstract Angel begins as an original work of art — painted by hand, shaped by colour, gesture and intuition.
Colour everywhere
Large canvases, colour on the walls, layers of paint and fragments of handwritten words. Every angel begins here — not as a graphic, but as a physical artwork.
The process is intuitive and instinctive. Colour, gesture and texture build slowly until a figure starts to emerge from the canvas.
Painted live, in one breath
Many works are created live, in front of an audience. There is no distance between the act of painting and the people watching it happen.
Each piece is shaped by movement, rhythm and the energy of that particular moment — which is why no two works begin in quite the same way.
The artwork continues
Once the painting is complete, selected details are transformed into wearable compositions.
The original canvas is photographed and reworked without losing its texture, colour or imperfections. What began as paint becomes fabric — printed on demand in Europe on carefully selected garments.
Ilaria Ratti Salvioni
Born in Lugano and based in Dubai since 2008, Swiss artist Ilaria Ratti Salvioni works between abstraction and expressionism. Colour, intuitive gesture and layered textures give her paintings an emotional and spiritual depth.
Her work has been shown internationally, from New York and Washington D.C. to London, Milan and the Middle East. During a solo exhibition in Manhattan, New York, her works were projected on the billboards of Times Square. Her work has also appeared in Vogue, Vanity Fair and other industry catalogs and magazines.
Abstract Angels grows from this practice: details from original canvases become angel wings, carrying the painting into everyday life.
